Shortly after Moses led Israel miraculously out of Egypt into the Arabian wilderness, his father-in-law Jethro, a pagan priest from Midian, came to visit. Moses told him of how God (Yahweh) had delivered them. (Exodus 18:8-12 NKJV.) Upon hearing the story, Jethro rejoiced at how Yahweh had delivered them from the Egyptians and the hardships experienced in the wilderness. It was truly a journey filled with miracles. Jethro declared (verse 11) “Now I know that Yahweh is greater than all the gods…” In believing, he then gave a burnt offering and other sacrifices offered to Yahweh.

These were miracles his pagan gods could not do. It convinced him of the true God. Miracles still have the appeal today to bring people to the Lord. In such lands inhabited by Hindus, Buddhists, animists and others, there are two things that convince them of God and Jesus’ Godhood: (1) Miracles, and (2) Manifestation of love. This is true even in our (formerly) Christian nation. Love is powerful. God still works miracles.

Do you need a miracle? Is there a mountainous obstacle in your life? In Mark 11:23-24 (NKJV) Jesus said, “…whoever says to this mountain ‘be removed and cast into the sea’, and does not doubt in his heart…will have whatever he says.” If you have a mountain (figurative) in your life; a really difficult matter, speak to it in the name of Jesus. Command it to be gone. Believe it is gone, accept it is gone, and give God praise for it. Your victory over the mountain will be established and accomplished.
